1.) Don't give up - Even when you see no point, and you don't get the response you expect, she deserves your love, you made a promise but she did not, keep your end of the deal
2.) Don't get jealous (or not too much) - She can have as many crushes as she wants, someone's going to see her for who she is and show it, don't interfere, respect her choice, if it's not you, support her whenever she needs it.
3.) Be consistent - Don't change because someone else told you to, be yourself, don't try to pass off as something you're not
4.) Be respectful and courteous - She's human, she's going to get annoyed and frustrated, give it time, apologize if you messed up, and don't take it personal, she may not mean everything she says when she's upset.
5.) Remember things change - As she grows up, she might change, this is fine, as the older person your job is to help, or stay back and let her learn, whichever is needed. You made mistakes, you still do, and she will as well, it's life
6.) Joke more, worry less - Don't take everything to heart, she teases you, so what? It makes her happy and that's what you want. Learn to worry less, enjoy the time you spend together, it may very well be the last day.
7.) Stop "parenting" - She's not 5, she can take care of herself, let her enjoy life, and take off. If she gets hurt, or needs something from you, then you can give advice, or if the moment calls for, just hear her out, and shut up.
8.) Don't forget about yourself - Yes she is your priority in the relationship, but it is both of you, if you need time before making a choice, take it, don't act on emotions, act on your heart, and true feelings, not anger and frustration.
9.) Don't jump to conclusions - If you don't hold all the information, more likely than not you are wrong , trust her as you would want her to trust you, a good friendship is built upon trust.
10.) Do remember to show appreciation - She's beautiful, sweet, caring. Let her know but not too much, you can get annoying. Here and there, and don't expect one back, do it out of heart.
