Hello everyone thank you for coming to this classroom today. Today Ayşe and I Ekrem will discuss about Animal testing.

If you're not familiar with the subject i'll explain it shortly: Sometimes companies or scientists,use their new products, whether scientific or commercial, like drugs for example on animals to prove the products' safety and effectiveness.

However, the problem with animal testing is the ethics. . Opponents to any kind of animal research—including both pro animal-rights people and anti-vivisectionist groups believe that animal experimentation is cruel, unnecessary and not ethic, regardless of its purpose or benefit.

In my opinion, animal testing should be banned. Using animals as test subjects is just plain cruel. Animals too are of flesh and blood just like us humans. They can feel pain and experience death.
Modern technology's developed beyond our grasp. The places where technology reaches, not even the imaginations of people cannot reach anymore. Alternatives exist and we should stick to them.

So why not use an alternative? Back in the past people used humans to study human diseases. Sometimes humans even tester their own experiments on other human beings.

Nowadays this doesn't happen anymore does it? It doesn't. We can use advanced computers to see how cancer spreads or just use human cells, dna to predict it for example.

Or we can just get DNA samples from people who suffer from cancer and examine them.


2. Argümana Cevap:

While it's true that experiments done on animals can yield tremendously beneficial results, we can't say that for all of them. Some experiments fail. In fact a lot of them fail. As a result animals either die or live in agony for the rest of their lives.

For example if we use a monkey to understand how one contracts lung cancer and how that spreads, what do we do with the monkey? We would put him in an empty cage and seal the cage. Then exposure the monkey to smoke. Any kind of smoke.

But what if our study fails and we find nothing or find results that we already know? Think about the monkey.

And I do believe the moral status of animals is equal to that of humans. We are not living in the middle ages anymore. Animals have their rights these days.
