Setelah lulus dari Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Frank dan Alice tergabung dalam Auror.
Selain berstatus sebagai Auror, ketika Wizarding War 1 para Death Eaters bertambah begitu banyak. Membuat Frank dan Alice memutuskan untuk bergabung dengan Order of the Phoenix untuk melawan para Death Eaters.
Pada 30 Juli 1980, mereka berdua dikaruniai oleh Tuhan dengan kehadiran Neville Longbottom.
Setelah gugurnya Lord Voldemort pada 31 Oktober 1981, Bellatrix dan beberapa pengikut Voldemort yang lain berhasil menghindari hukuman para Auror. Mencoba untuk mencari dan menghidupkan kembali Voldemort, mereka menculik para Auror dan anggota Order of Phoenix, termasuk Alice dan Frank Longbottom.
Karena hal itu, Frank dan Alice harus mendekam di St. Mungo. Setiap liburan, Neville selalu datang ke St. Mungo untuk mengunjungi kedua orangtuanya walaupun mereka berdua sama sekali tak mengenali Neville.
