While the animals work harder and laboriously on the windmill, Napoleon is given the credit for all accomplishments. This is also shown in the poem that was composed for him, and makes him look like a god. Napoleon continues the debate for the pile of timber, at first leaning towards Pilkington and Foxwood farm, while the pigs spread rumors that Frederick is plotting to attack Animal Farm and that Pinchfield is housing Snowball. Napoleon decides to sell the timber to Pilkington, and wants to be on friendly terms with them in the future. More rumors were spread about Frederick's cruelty and the horrible treatment of his animals. Then finally, windmill was finished and was named Napoleon Mill. When Napoleon suddenly sells the timber to Frederick, he reveals that he was planning with Pinchfield all along and he broke off all relations with Pilkington. Frederick also raised his offer due to Napoleon's agreement with Pilkington, allowing the animals to have enough money to buy their windmill's machinery. After they received the money, Mr. Whymper realized that the money was forged. This led to the Battle of the Windmill, where the animals barely won back their own land. This resulted in many casualties, and the demolition o the windmill. Napoleon was then announced to be dying, and made drinking alcohol punishable by death. Later, Napoleon was found to be on his way to recovery and he also planned to be sowing barley into the land set aside for older animals. At night, Squealer was found in the barn with white paint and a brush. While only Benjamin knew what Squealer had been doing, the animals notice two extra words at the end of a commandment.
