Force Stop. Clear Data

** Perform the same steps on the Camera App (Screenshots are only for reference).

1. Open Settings.
2. Go to Installed Apps
3. Select Download Manager
4. Tap on Clear Data
5. Tap on Ok to confirm
6. Now Tap on Force Stop
7. Tap on Ok to confirm
** Now, Check if the app is working fine

MIUI 8 - Perform a factory reset

Things to remember before the Factory Reset:
The data will be loss.
If required, take a backup data.
Make sure the battery is sufficiently charged.
If applicable, remove the SD Card from the device to prevent accidental formatting while resetting.


Note: During setup after the reset, please make sure you do not restore the settings. Set it up as a new device. (Some Settings or Apps might be the root cause of the actual issue).

Also, we request you not to install apps from unknown sources like third-party websites or through SHAREit. Apps must be downloaded only from the Google Play Store.

** If you have a passcode/password/fingerprint unlock set, please enter password.

6. Tap on Erase to confirm the reset.

Check for lens protector

New devices usually have the protective plastic over the camera lens. If not removed, the pictures will not be as expected. Remove the protective plastic.

Check for OTA update

Things to remember before the update:

Make sure you are connected to WiFi.
Make sure the battery is charged above 50% or is connected to the charger during the update
Take a backup of any important data, if required.
Follow these steps to check/perform an OTA Update

1. Open Settings
2. Open the About Phone section
3. Tap on System Updates
4. Now Tap on Check for Updates. If any updates are available Tap on download to update the firmware.
**Updating Firmware may take some time depending on size of the update.

**The phone will restart 1-2 times during the process.

Intensive use of basic functions like calls, browsing etc.
Navigation or GPS for long periods of time.
Intensive camera use.
Watching a lot of videos.
Playing graphics-intensive games.
Using apps for long periods of time, like Facebook and WhatsApp (The screen is on all the while).

Reboot the device -

Rebooting your device gives it a fresh start and is sometimes all you need to fix your issue.

*Press and hold the Power button on your smartphone to Reboot the device (If reboot isnt available, turn Off and then turn On your smartphone).

If you want to know how long the device has been running, follow the steps below:
Open Settings
Scroll down and tap About Phone (If you don't find this, tap System and then look for About Phone)
Tap Status
Scroll down and check Up time (The time listed here is in hours. Anything above 168 hours needs to be rebooted.)

Check Apps Battery Usage -

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Tap the Battery option
3. This will show you the battery availability & usage on your device
4. Select a service/component in order to view its battery usage
5. If required, tap adjust power use and change the settings to reduce power consumption
6. Check if any app is taking more battery than normal

Check Battery History -

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Scroll down and choose Battery.
3. Tap the battery graph to view a details.
4. Now, you should see the Battery History, a graphical representation of the battery discharge rate. Check the signal strength, awake and screen on time.
Note: This resets every time the battery is charged to 100%.

Check for OTA update -

Things to remember before the update:

-Make sure you are connected to WiFi. (If Wi-Fi issue, then you must have to use the mobile data)
-Make sure the battery is charged above 50% or is connected to the charger during the update
-Backup any important data, if required.

1.Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2.Scroll down and choose About Phone
3.Tap System updates and then Check for updates
4.The device should now look for available updates.
5.If an update is available, continue to download and update.
6.The device will reboot once updated.

If there is no updates available, continue to the next step.

Check app battery usage:

-Pull down the notification panel and open Settings

-In this list, check if any third-party apps are taking more battery than normal
-You can also swipe left and look at the hardware list to see if any of the components are taking more battery than normal
-Tap the Battery History icon on the top right corner of the screen.
-Check the Mobile network signal strength. Green is strong; Yellow is weak; Red is no signal. You can see the reference image to understand signal strength vs battery drain.
Note: The battery history resets every time the battery is charged to 100%.

Enable battery save mode:

-Pull down the notification panel and open Settings
-Scroll down and tap Battery
-Tap Power and then tap Battery Saver
-Toggle the switch to enable Battery Saver

Check for an OTA update:
