According to a recent survey, Bangalore is experiencing water crisis in several months of the year and it will get worse in near future times , because of insufficient water and it's poor management and also inadequate methods of treatment of storm water. BBC had listed Bengaluru on the second position among the top 11 cities to run out of drinking water. Bengaluru has an average rainfall of minimum 800 mm, spread across its 1250 sq.km. of metropolitan area. So, we are proposing storm water harvesting idea which can resolve the problem.

Storm water harvesting or storm water re use is the collection , accumulation , treatment or purification and storing of storm water for its eventual re use . It is different from rain water harvesting as run off is collected from drains or creeks , rather than roof. The benefits of using this is reducing soil erosion , reduction of demand for local acquifier , reduction of pollution in water ways and mainly it full fill the demand of water in the city. Currently, the river Kaveri  provides around 80% of the total water supply to the city with the remaining 20% being obtained from the Thippagondanahalli and Hesaraghatta reservoirs of the Arkavathi river.Bangalore receives 800 million liters  of water a day, more than any other Indian city. By using storm water harvesting we can reduce cauvery water supply to the city by 50% which can reduce conflict between karnataka and tamilnadu.
