You can look at this from an athlete point of view or just for life in general. As an athlete, I look at it from the score perspective, but it is also helpful to look at in a general point of view. The only way to score points in a game is to take shots, or as some call it risks. The only way those risks pay off is if you actually take the chance. Think of life as a game, and the shots, swings or hits you take to receive points as risks and once you take those risks, you are fully playing the game.

When it comes to planning ahead, how far are you willing to go? Set out the plan for the day? Week? Year? Far future? Think about this…if your mind is too busy planning out what you should be doing in the near or even far future, you can’t possibly be living in the moment. Life is all about what is happening now. What you do each and every second defines you, what you decide to do with your time tells everyone else what kind of person you are. If your mind is so preoccupied on planning something for tomorrow, or even planning your next move of the day, you can’t enjoy what is right in front of you. Look up, see what the world right in front of your eyes brings you. We are only on this earth for so long so enjoy each and every second of it.

Live your life like everyone expects you too? I think not. Being original is what makes up your persona. It is what makes you, you. Even though it sounds like I’m stating the obvious, not everyone can get a hold of the simple concept of being themselves. Our flaws are what make us beautiful and our mistakes are what make us learn. If there is no spice in anyone’s life, spice being imperfection, madness and ridiculousness, life would be utterly boring and not worth living.

To me, this is mostly about leaving the past behind you. Leaving home, forgiving and forgetting, becoming a new person. Everyone has some kind of rock in their life, and that is something that stays constant. But there is a difference between moving on and growing up and being held back. You have to make your own choices in life, and you have to push yourself to go places you’ve never been before in order to succeed. Never forget the past, but always remember there is always more to be discovered in the future than you could ever imagine.

Always make it a goal to make an impact on someone’s life. Don’t just make it an act of random kindness; make it something that they are going to remember for the rest of their lives. You never know how much or in what kind of way you will change a person’s life with just one act, one piece of advice, or even with just one smile, but it is always guaranteed you can and will made a difference, big or not. Because of you, they now can look at something differently and be able to have a different viewpoint. Feelings are hard to forget, especially if it affected that person significantly.

Critics are simply a part of this world. Staying strong to who you are and what you believe in is essential, and you have the right to express it. People drop their morals and become discouraged when the slightest amount of criticism or disapproval comes their way, but you have to remember to stand a firm ground. You cannot live in this world without making an impact on at least one person’s life, and you cannot go about today’s society without being judged. Stay true to who you are as an individual, stand strong in your beliefs and never lower your morals.
