Among Frederick Taylor's management thought he outlined the roles of a manager. He believed in the Scientific Management Theory. The main focus of this theory was to evaluate and make the workflow cohesive. He wanted to improve the quality and quantity. I believe these roles are still relevant today. Managers always try to improve the productivity by having on the job training. They still try to find the best method in getting the job done but most important accurate. For example at my job people complained that the work was getting done however there were a lot of errors. My supervisor evaluated the situation and gave the work to me because I am better suited for that role.

The change in direction of management theory and practice that Hawthorne studies prompt was if an environment was different their would me a temporary change. If someone is being watched their work productivity will increase. This goes for their behavior too. If your superior was watching you, you would think twice before going on Facebook during work hours.

The scientific management, as developed by Frederick Taylor, and management science theory, as espoused by W. Edwards Deming had similarities and differences .They both based their theory on science and wanted to improve the work place. The difference was I think Deming dealt more with knowledge.
