Loceng sekolah berbunyi menandakan waktu rehat sudah berakhir. Ummi dan rakan-rakannya beratur lalu berjalan ke bilik darjah mereka. Sebelum ummi masuk ke bilik darjah, kawannya, Liana memberitahunya bahawa dia ingin berjalan pulang bersama Ummi selepas waktu sekolah. Ummi berasa gembira kerana sudah lama mereka tidak berjalan bersama-sama.
Selepas waktu sekolah, Ummi mengemas begnya lalu berjalan pulang dengan Liana. Mereka terlalu asyik berbual sehingga Ummi terlupa untuk sinngah ke perustakaan. Ummi hanya sedar bahawa dia harus ke perustakaan setelah dia pulang ke rumah. Dia menelefon ibunya untuk memberitahu dia harus keluar rumah semula untuk memulangkan buku di perpustakaan. Sekirannya dia tidak memulangkan buku itu, dia akan dikenakan denda.
Ibu Ummi tidak menjawab panggilan telefon. Ummi pun membuat keputusan untuk menghantar pesanan ringkas kepada ibuya.
