"The mental illness, Apatheia, is characterized by unstable emotional regulation in childhood, periods which may last two weeks to two months to two years. Each mood is dominated by mostly one emotion, the most common being euphoria or rage. These moods are sectioned off by long periods of apathy, a perversion that increases with intensity as the child ages. Typically, at adolescence, the "switching" is stopped and replaced with impulsivity, proneness to violence, and rage that extends into adulthood. This disease is still being researched, and care is available to the sufferers."

Note: Although not mentioned due to the recent birth of this disorder, the change that occurs during adolescence is thought to be more of a split than a guaranteed shift to aggressive behaviors, which could be easily manageable with behavioral therapy. The second path is much rarer, showing an extreme lack of empathy and an absence of social functioning, only three cases have been reported so far, but all patients share two things- the mental illness Apatheia and their species. Upon proof that these beings are suffering from the same disease, the formal definition will be changed immediately. Thank you for your time.

Apatheia in children:

- Difficulty making or keeping friends, and if they do, it is a struggle for them to be interested in others for a long period of time

- Lack of emoting visually (Example: A child's toy is stolen, and they shed no tears or show any frustration. More or less, it's as nothing has happened.)

- Disinterest in socializing or playing

- Isolating themselves from others for no reason

- Prone to severe emotional outbursts (As in the day before they were showing antisocial behavior and hiding away, preoccupied with something internal. And the next they are in a frenzy, zooming back and forth.)

Apatheia in adolescents:

- Longer periods of emotional drought

- Criminal behaviors such as assault, theft, or vandalizing

- Socially awkward, or "stiff" in behavior

- Mute, or barely speaking

- Obsession with a certain task, one they will repeat over and over again

- At the end of adolescence, they are either plagued with negative, powerful moods or apathetic and completely calm

Apatheia in Adults:

(Hot)

- Easily triggered or startled

- Can form attachments, but emotional outbursts make them difficult to manage

- Typically been arrested before for disruptive or violent behavior

- Remorseful of actions, yet being unable to control them on their own

- Prone to feeling betrayed by small slights, which makes environments dangerous for the beings involved during their frenzied rages

- Vengeful, which stems from the abuse they endured from childhood

- Loss of apathy, being highly empathetic

- Most likely suffering from some sort of depression

- Suicidal tendencies or attempts

(Note: In adults and adolescents, "hot" Apatheia causes sufferers to fall into deep, shameful bouts of intense depression, giving it the highest mortality rate of any other disorder. 8/10 beings affected by the emotional Apatheia make four attempts on their life before reaching maturity.)

(Cold)

- Inability to feel fear, or lack of, making these beings appear docile

- A detachment from society, loved ones, or social norms

- Socially awkward, unable to manipulate others or mimic emotions.

- Total lack of empathy, anger, love, excitement, pleasure, or any other everyday emotion

- Suffering from chronic boredom

- Excelling at menial labor, seemingly doing so to stay busy

- Having a difficult time understanding other people's behaviors, finding them odd for being emotionally driven

- Unable to form any sort of attachment, whether it be friendship, romantic, or business
