Sage (Salvia officinalis) adalah salah satu tanaman herbal aromatik yang masuk ke dalam keluarga Lamiaceae (Labiatae). Habitat aslinya di wilayah Mediterania, tapi Sage bisa ditanam di mana saja, tidak ada syarat mutlak harus dataran tinggi atau rendah. Sage ini biasanya dibudidayakan untuk diambil daunnya dan banyak digunakan untuk masakan Eropa, Inggris dan Amerika sebagai bahan pelengkap dan penyedap masakan. Bentuk tanamannya semak dan tidak terlalu tinggi. Paling tinggi katanya sekitar 60cm saja.
Permukaan daunnya bertekstur dan berbulu halus sekali. Warna permukaannya atasnya hijau dan permukaan bawahnya hijau keabu-abuan atau putih. Bentuknya oval. Sage memiliki banyak varietas dan warna, ada warna ungu, pink, putih, dan merah. Karena bentuknya yang cantik, Sage bisa menjadi tanaman hias yang multi fungsi. Dalam sejarahnya, Sage dimanfaatkan orang-orang benua Eropa mengobati gigitan ular, meningkatkan kesuburan wanita, diuretik, anestesi untuk lokal dan sebagainya. Daun Sage juga dapat diseduh untuk dijadikan teh. Pada abad pertengahan Eropa, Sage digunakan untuk memperkuat ingatan. Umumnya Sage disuling untuk diambil minyak essential nya.
