A carbon molecule in the atmosphere moves freely, until a plant absorbs it during the process of photosynthesis. As a result of this, carbon becomes a part of the glucose stored in that plant. If the plant is eaten by another organism, the carbon becomes a part of that organism. If that organism is eaten too by another organism, the carbon becomes a part of that organism. This goes on until the organism dies naturally, and then the carbon is absorbed by the soil.

When water is evaporated, it becomes a gas, therefore being a part of the atmosphere.
Water moves into the geosphere by a form of precipitation, when either the water gets absorbed by soil, or becomes run off.
Water moves into the hydrosphere by remaining in liquid form either after precipitation, or before evaporation.

Nitrogen moves into the atmosphere by finishing the nitrogen cycle, or remaining in gas form before being part of the nitrogen cycle.
Nitrogen moves into the geosphere by being absorbed by soil.
Carbon moves into the geosphere by existing as a rock, or by getting absorbed into the soil.
