I. What makes us humans?

a. Bipedal locomotion
-Reliance to Bipedalism is the key feature differentiating early hominins from the apes because this way of moving around eventually led to the distinctive homonin way of life.
b. Brains, Skulls, and Childhood dependency
Brains
-Early hominins had very small brains compared with contemporary humans where the Australopithecus afarenisis which is a bipedal hominin that lived more than three million years ago only had a cranial capacity that barely surpassed the chimp average.
Childhood dependency
-Homonins have a long childhood dependency which results to the dramatic growth of their brains and skull
Skulls
-Increase in size of both the brain and skull had to overcome an obstacle which was the birth canals for which a larger skull requires a larger birth canal but the imposed limits of the upright bipedalism impose limits while have a birth canal which is too narrow may result to the death of the mother and child.
