1. Dark Arts Defence – Basics for Beginners.
Buku ini diterbitkan oleh Ministry of Magic di Inggris dalam deskripsi di belakang covernya tertulis, "Sebagian materi yang menyeramkan mugkin terasa familiar bagi Anda. Sebagian lagi, merupakan hal yang luar biasa baru untuk Anda. Semua itu sangat penting untuk pemahaman yang menyeluruh tentang Ilmu Hitam dan hal mengerikan lainnya yang ada di luar sana." Kira-kira seperti itulah isinya. Tetapi sayangnya, buku ini hanya menyajikan teori, dan hanya memiliki sedikit informasi mengenai bagaimana melawan sihir Hitam, seperti penggunaan sihir defensif. Contoh mantra defensif seperti protego dan patronus charm.
2. The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection.
Buku ini ditulis oleh Profesor Quentin Trimble dan diterbitkan sebelum tahun 1991.
Didalamnya berisi berbagai informasi tentang berbagai makhluk gelap, juga beberapa mantra defensif, seperti knockback Jinx. Berikut beberapa kutipan yang terdapat didalamnya : "yang pertama gigitan werewolf harus dibersihkan secara menyeluruh, seperti taring werewolf, taringnya dapat mengeluarkan bisa. Namun, setelah anda berubah menjadi werewolf tidak ada obat yang dapat menyembuhkannya. Yang kedua, hindari Red Cap, makhluk kerdil yang bersembunyi di tempat di mana darah telah tertumpah dan akan mencoba untuk memukul yang ia waspadai hingga mati. Dan yang ketiga ‘hag’ adalah makhluk pemakan anak-anak, berpenampilan seperti manusia, meskipun cenderung memiliki lebih banyak kutil daripada 'witch'. Pernah dengar soal nenek sihir? Nah, hag ini memiliki rupa yang lebih buruk daripada mereka.
3. Defensive Magical Theory.
Buku ini ditulis oleh Wilbert Slinkhard dan dirilis pada atau sebelum tahun 1995. Dan berikut adalah beberapa judul bab yang terdapat dalam buku itu.
- Bab pertama: "Basics for Beginners" yang berada di halaman 5.
- Bab kedua: "Common Defensive Theories and their Derivation" ada di halaman 19.
