1. Penanggalan
Penanggalan atau `Hantu Penanggal` atau "Hantu Kepala" (disebut "Kuyang" di Kalimantan) adalah makhluk mirip vampir dalam cerita rakyat di daerah Semenanjung Malaya, disebut juga Balan-balan di Sabah. Kata "Penanggal" atau "Penanggalan" bermakna "melepaskan", sesuai dengan gambaran Penanggalan yang diceritakan sebagai perempuan yang mampu melepaskan kepalanya, lalu kepala tersebut (dengan usus dan isi perut yang bergantungan) terbang untuk mencari mangsa pada malam hari.
2. Langsuir
Langsuir adalah sejenis makhluk halus penghisap darah dalam kepercayaan masyarakat Melayu. Langsuir dipercayai akan merasuk mangsa dan menghisap darah mangsa secara perlahan-lahan sehingga mati.
Terdapat beberapa pendapat bahwa Langsuir berasal dari wanita yang mati bersalin atau selepas itu.
3. Palesit
Pelesit merujuk kepada sejenis makhluk halus, yang dipelihara oleh seseorang, biasanya wanita dengan tujuan mencelakai musuh. Pemeliharaan makhluk halus ini dikenali sebagai saka. Hantu palesit dipercayai diberi makan darah dari jari tangan tuannya.
