Rivaille Ackerman, adalah seorang tentara perang tanpa kekuatan lebih layaknya tentara lain. Karena kelemahannya inilah, Rivaile tidak memilik izin untuk mengikuti beberapa operasi perang dalam hidupnya.
Sampai pada suatu saat, professor yang menangani kesehatan para tentara mulai meliriknya. Mencoba hal baru untuk tubuhnya.
Cairan serum Super-Soldier dan bahan dari pengobatan Vita-Ray sudah mengalir diseluruh sel tubuh. Membuatnya secara drastis berubah menjadi seorang manusia yang kuat, lincah, cepat, serta memiliki daya tahan yang bagus.
Mulai saat itu, Rivaille menjadi satu satunya tentara perang terkuat dari seluruh tentara. Dan merubah nama menjadi Captain Amerika.
Musuh mulai bertadangan seiring Rivaille selalu memenangkan pertempuran melawan pihak lawan.
Sampai pada satu perkelahian, Rivaille kalah- hanyut dalam lautan es kutub kemudian membeku dan koma selama beratus hari.
