There are many people who have an animal at home. Some people decided to own pets because they need companion at home. They used to spend their leisure time by playing with their pets. People have to earn their livings. They spend much time in their jobs. They have no time for private life. Young people marry less often than in the past. They have less time to meet other people, to find someone to love. They decide to get a pet so as not to be completely lonely. On the other hand, for some people, having pets may cause trouble and inconvenience. Some pets may damage the furniture. Furthermore, the owner should be responsible for the pets. There are several advantages and disadvantages of having pets.

Having pets has three advantages. First, pets reduce stress. According to a survey by Mindlab International, people will be more relaxed after spending time with their pets. Second, pets help people with serious illness. Some physicians have discovered that pets can motivate patients with serious illness such cancer. Third, pets affect owner’s health. Kids grow up in a home with furred animal have less risk of allergies and asthma. Cats also lower risk of heart attack by reducing stress and anxiety. Dogs are able to either lower blood pressure and cholesterol or help people lose their weight. A dog-friend is very reliable and loyal. The person, who looks after it will make the most wonderful friend.

However, having a pet at home may cause some trouble. A dog for example is considered man's best friend. But we have to dedicate much time to take care of it. We have to remember about feeding it and going for a walk with it every day. Keeping a dog is also quite expensive. Also pets can be destructive. However, training helps them to get used not to damage furniture. Pets carry health risk for some people. Allergy-prone family should reconsider about having pets

To sum up, I want to say that in my opinion having a pet brings its owner many benefits. Of course, there are some disadvantages of keeping an animal at home, but generally a pet makes us feel safer and more comfortable. We do not have to spend lonesome evenings anymore.
