PROJECT PROPOSAL

GAS STATION DATABASE SYSTEM

Team Members: Berker Şentürk, Serhat Yiğit, Nahit Çatmadım, Abdullah Can

We will create a database of a gas station system provides an efficient and cohesive management. It’s meant to be a facilitating and a safe system for managers’ work. Our database includes an administrator, a bunch of pump attendants, customers and a shift manager, gas pumps, types of liquid fuel (lpg, diesel and gas).

The system users are the General Manager, the personnel, the shift manager, and the customers.
Nature of system contains the pumps according to type of the fuel or gas they carry and the staff who assigned wit selling, section manager of the staff, cars as the customer side and the relations between those. Database also will store all staff pumps and cars info moreover the payments permanent gas amounts etc.

The probable entities are managers, pumps and pump attendants. Pump attendants have a relationship with the pumps as a many to many relationship. The actual manager has the authority to change the unit price of fuels and the shift manager will be able to set working times of pump attendants.
Any technical problem about the system components will cause inconsistency between the real life situation and the recorded data. When it happens bothersome problems will occur.

If we don’t have the data for quantities of fuels that we sold, we cannot determine when it will be sold out and we cannot satisfy new customer’s needs. Without database management system, we cannot be notified in any kind of fraud.

Our basic mission is preventing any problem in the transportation and the sale of the fuel. Another aim is protecting our economic interests by preventing fraud and controlling our stock for continuity in sales. Setting a regular and fair working hours for our staff is our sub-goal.

This system is designed for the use of individual gas stations. It also can be used by a fuel company for its regional stations or worldwide. The managers have to authority to use the and customize the prices. Attendants only can see the unit price on the pumps. We also thought to record the data of fuel coming in and the market but it raises the complexity of the system too much. So we decided to eliminate them.
