-pericles 450 bc = pushed for the creation of such monument
-monument= relates to the recovery of a nation after a war with Persia
-monument helped to employ the people of athens
-different from other ancient monuments=Athens had slaves but didnt use them for the building process= made by the "free" people of Athens
-every Athenian had a part of the creation of the Parthenon
-after the fall of Athens= many empires with different religions have converted the place to suit religion
-lots of wear and tear
-Lord Elgin of England sent a wrecking crew to Greece to steal half of the Parthanon and sell in London
-debate= whether england should return the stolen pieces
-for=the fucken made it
-against= Greece hasnt been too responsible about taking care of their other monuments and they dont have anywhere to put it
-in the end it belongs to the Greeks and the British have no right keeping it
-it may look nice in London musuem but idk why it has taken so long for people to start pushing for the return of stolen aritfacts
