During all four years at high school, I have played clarinet in the high school marching band and the concert band. Marching band has been a great experience for me and I have made a lot of friends in band. I love marching our shows, and they are all really cool My freshman year, our show was titled Legend, and consisted of music from Braveheart, Robin Hood, and Zorro. Legend was one of my favorite shows. That year, our band director, Mr.Carr, left. That was really hard, because he was one of the big reasons that I made the decision the transfer to South Paulding from Hiram. That turned out to be a great decision. Our next band director was Mr.McConnell, and the assistant band director was Ms. Nickelson. They are both great people, and I'm really glad they became our new directors. The next year, our show was titled American Spirit, with traditional American music. We didn't enjoy that show as much, and we don't really talk about it. The next year, however, I thought we had a great show. The show was titled Spartan Odyssey, to mark the school's 10th anniversary (the mascot is the Spartan), and had original music. That show had a story line with a Spartan king returning from war. It was a really cool show. This year, though, is definitely my (and probably everyone else's) favorite. This year the show was titled Wonderland, and had original music based on Alice in Wonderland. That show also had a story line, with Alice, the Mad Hatter, and our drum majors playing the Red Queen, the White Queen, and the White Rabbit, respectively. With that show, we even won third place Grand Champion at one of our competitions, which is pretty big (especially for us). While I didn't get a leadership role in band, being one of only three seniors, I helped out. Since one of our section leaders hurt her foot early on, the other senior and I helped out the senior section leader whenever she needed us, like to run sectionals if she was gone. I think I did well at it, even if I don't really like being in charge. Other than band, I am also in the National English Honor Society, and we do service to fill up the service hours for the club. At church, I have had a leadership role at least once is all three presidencies of the Young Women's organization. Currently I am the secretary of the Laurels.
