Gerakannya yang khas adalah tarian dan tendangan dengan diiringi musik tradisional. Gerakan dalam capoeira menyerupai sebuah tarian dan bertitik berat pada tendangan. Pertarungan dalam capoeira biasanya diiringi oleh musik dan disebut dengan Jogo.
