Jepun pink, bunga mentega adalah tanaman perdu berkayu yang tingginya bisa mencapai 3 meter. Sebagai tanaman hias, oleander cukup popular,Sosok tanamannya rimbun dengan daun pita berwarna hijau tua. Bunganya bergerombol, terlihat cantik dan kontras dengan hijaunya daun. Daya tarik oleander,adalah bunganya yang tahan lama dan bermekaran sepanjang tahun. Tanaman asal Asia Timur dan Eropa Barat ini juga mudah dalam perbanyakan dan perawatan.

Morfologi Nerium oleander,
Daun : Daun keras dan tajam selebar + 2 cm. Daun pokok ini tersusun dalam lingkaran (vertisilaster) yang setiap lingkarannya berjumlah 3 daun. Bentuk daun ini panjangnya berkisar antara 4-10 cm, tergantung pada variasi dan berwarna.
Daun Venation: berdaun muda pada tangkai
Sari daun oleander dapat digunakan untuk mengobati penyakit jantung dan kerusakan kulit pada dosis yang tepat. Karena apabila getah dari daun oleander termakan dapat menyebabkan kematian.
Bunga : Bunga oleander tumbuh dengan baik di daerah subtropis, yang digunakan sebagai tanaman hias. Nerium oleander dapat tumbuh pada suhu -10ºC dan juga pada iklim dingin. Bunga berwarna putih atau kelabu, merah ke ungu atau kuning kemerahan. Mempunyai diameter 2,5-5 cm. Bunga oleander memiliki 3 bagian yaitu limbus, faux dan tubus.
Buah : Buah berbentuk kapsula dengan panjang 5-23 cm yang ujungnya membuka pada saat dewasa untuk melepaskan banyak bibit.
Batang : batang berkayu, tidak berduri.
