A non-governmental organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens’ group which is organized on a local, national, or international level. They are organized by people with a common interest. NGOs perform a variety of services and humanitarian functions. NGOs are often organized around specific issues, such as human rights, the environment or health. According to their primary purpose, NGOs can be categorized as follows:

To start with, development oriented organizations are concern about education, community services, improving qualify of life and provide people against insufficient conditions. Thanks to this organizations, societies and individuals can find a significant chance to reach better welfare. Additionally, development oriented organizations are often contribute public consultation due to government.

Secondly, relief oriented organizations mainly subjects that helping needed people especially extraordinary situations. To illustrate, AKUT's goal is that rescue people in disasters. This organizations are contributed by citizens and they train themselves. Moreover, relief oriented organizations may focus on a topic such as Unity of Physically Handicapped People, generally concerns handicapped people problems.

When it comes to advocacy oriented organizations, it is clear that most countries have been suffering problems because of lack of justice or insufficient justice, AOO give opportunities for people with the way of advocating. For example, Turkey has been suffering injustice problems, of course it affects badly all participants of Turkey. Children are needed to protection also AOO delivers advocacy service for free. Additionally, people are terrifying natural life and it is obvious that any tree or hedgehog can hire an advocate. An organization such as Greenpeace has been trying to protect people with the way of legal rights even if against mega-holdings.

In conclusion, these organizations working in different fields provide a valuable support and services to society. They often focus on areas that government can’t or won’t prioritize. They also remind the government of its duties to society, especially to the poor, the under educated, and to minority groups. They may also criticize harmful government policies. NGOs are a platform for the public to voice their opinion and get involved for the common good.
