Several countries in Europe are beginning to shift to the right. The Alternative for Deutschland in Germany, the National Front in France, and Austria's Freedom Party are becoming more popular than ever, promoting xenophobia and nationalism while advocating to leave the European Union. If the EU is to continue, something must be done to stop the increasing disfavor and the rise of the far right political parties in Europe. The AfD received 25% of the votes in German state election, attracting voters with policies that are "anti-everything that is the norm" and state that Islam does not belong in Germany. The National Front in France has a real chance of gaining the presidency in 2017, according to former French prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin. The National Front is also in favor of leaving the European Union.
In the United Kingdom, a referendum to leave the EU passed with 52% of the country voting to leave. If the UK actually leaves the EU and France follows, which is entirely possible given the popularity of Marine Le Pen and the National Front, the European Union has little chance of staying together.
