There are four parts of macromolecules. They are proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acid, and lipids. Proteins are structural, they are enzymes, and they regulate your metabolism. They are transporters. They help with your movement. They act as hormones. Fun fact, insulin is a protein that controls your blood The next macromolecule is carbohydrates. They supply energy. Cells burn glucose for their energy. Some carbohydrates are, bread, whole grain, cereal, and pasta. Those were just a couple of examples. The next is a lipid. They store energy for long term use. It is made of fatty acid chains and glycerol. It helps maintain body heat with homeostasis. The next is nucleic acid. It is not found in food .It is built from nucleotide units. It stores genetic information. These are the four parts of macromolecules and their functions

The properties of water are 2 hydrogens and one oxygen. The two hydrogens are positive and the one oxygen is negative. It is said that hydrogen bonds are like magnets. Hydrogen bonds happen because of cohesion. It is an attraction between two like things. The oxygen is negative because of the 8 negative electrons that surround it. Each hydrogen molecule has 1 proton atom. And the oxygen has 8 proton atoms. This is the properties of water.

The next thing we learned in unit 2 is about obesity. Did you know that obesity can lead to sleep apnea, because of the fat that is around your neck. It can also lead to high blood pressure, because of the fat in your blood vessels. It can also lead to heart disease. I thought that being obese meant that you were 15 pounds over the weight you're supposed to be for your height. But it’s actually having a body mass of 30 or above.

Unit 2 Thesis Paper
Biology

My thesis paper is about unit 2 of biology. It is about what we learned. I will be writing about Macromolecules, the properties of water and obesity. I chose to write about these three things because I feel that they are important to what we learned.

In conclusion, I think that what we learned is very important. I think that learning the properties of water was fun because when we looked at water molecules, it looked like mickey mouse! When we learned about the four parts of macromolecules was fun because we have a fun class! And when we learned about obesity, my favorite part was when we saw parts on Supersize Me!
