The legend of Dracula has installed fear into human beings for hundreds of years . This infamous vampire , created by the author Bram Stoker in 1897 has inspired many horror films and books . Although the actions of his vampire are purely fiction , the character himself , Dracula , is actually based on a real person .
Vlad the Third was born somewhere between 1429 to 1431 in transylvania . He was born into the royal family of Wallachia where his father Vlad Dracul 11 reigned . His father was part of an organisation named the the "order of the dragon " . His father was so proud to be part of this group that he changed his name to Dracul , which the means the dragon . Because of this Vlad the third changed his name to Dracula which transalates into the son of the dragon . This organisation was dedicated to one task , the defeat of the Turkish . Wallachi and Turkey were always in war with each other which lead to the capture of Vlad the second , Vlad the third and his older son , rodu . The Turkish were barbaric , titled with the most ruthless leadership in the world at that time , this did not change when dealing with the royals of Wallachi . Both Vlad the second and his brother Rodu were tortured and tonged to death in front of the twelve year old . It is believed that this experience is what created his brutal character which resulted in him becoming the most monsterous man to have yet existed according to wiki, followed by Adolf Hitler in second place . Dracula being under the age to be exucated according to the Catholics Rules , which both Wallachia and Turkey were under , was set free . He ran to allies in romania and at the age of just 14 attacked the turkish earning back his country . His power blossomed and soon Wallachia was at full strenght , but the threat of the turkish still lingered . Vlad Dracula came up with a chilling plan . He invited Turkish leaders to his castle , claiming that the invite was a pledge for peace . But as soon as his guests had finished their meals , his guards impaled each and everyone of them . To show his power Dracula invited the public to his castle , where he dipped his bread in the dripping blood of the impaled , which he ate in front of the people of Wallachia . This is the event that first earned Vlad his nickname , Vlad the impaler . In this group of civilians who had been ordered to watch the eating of the bread were a religous church , who foolishly wore their turbans in front of Vlad Dracula . Being highly christian this angered him , calling them the spawn of the devil , he took it upon himself to carry out his christian duties .Vlad ensured that their turbans would forever remain on their heads by having the head coverings nailed to their skulls. This earned him the name " Protector of faith " . He was sent disgracers of reiligon by neighbouring leaders so he could carry out the " right and godly " torture.
