Whenever the metservice suggests snow is on the horizion, i like to throw my weatherman hat on and give my personal prediction based on rain forecast charts - somewhat of a small hobby.
I will post updated predictions each day for those interested.

Tuesday night will be a dry night with no rain to fall until dawn.
Wednesday from dawn will bring light showers which will continue through to lunchtime. Lunchtime the rain will begin to get heavier and will be pouring down on us throughout the afternoon. The temperature will drop and the rain will become sleet sometime in the evening. The sleet will transition to snow overnight with steady sleet and snow showers giving the potential for a some snow on the ground to wake up to on Thursday.
Thursday morning the strong snow flurries will arrive and will begin to cover the city from the early hours. The trip in to school may be a white one. By lunchtime these snow flurries will have grown into very heavy snow fall. This heavy snow will fall from the skies all afternoon with the worst of the storm passing over us around 4-5pm. Bring those gumboots for the trip home! By early evening there will be a thick covering of snow everywhere in the city, and we will continue to experience strong snow flurries all evening and overnight.
(At this stage I shall repeat today's Civil Defense warnings that you should consider now how you will go about your trip home and check you have good supplies should the local shops close down from the storm).
Friday morning we will waken to a white city, with light snow and sleet flurries continuing to fall throughout the day. This should only be light flurries throughout Friday. These light furries will continue over Friday night.
Saturday morning the snow will still cover the city and snow flurries will have developed into light sleet which will continue to fall until the early afternoon when finally the rain shall stop. Clear skies by 6pm.
