what is the Gimme five program by Preserve: mailing the bottle caps. simple to do. gives us rewards for them. they are partnered with Recyclebank. which with an added email will send promo codes to use for discounts at local businesses which the school could use.
WHY= *many people think the plastic bottles that accompany the caps are made from the same type of plastic which they are NOT. Plastic caps are typically made from plastic #5 while the bottles they accompany are made from #2. These two types of plastic melt at different temperatures during the recycling process and therefore requiring special processing.
*make our school even more green.
*number five plastics are not as widely collected or recycled as much as number 1 and 2.
*number five plastics can be turned into many widely used products like toothbrushes, razors, cutlery, mixing bowls. all of which are recyclable.

*Polypropylene(plastic number five) is the world's second-most widely produced synthetic plastic, after polyethylene.
*#5 has a similar type resin to that of #2, many reclaimers are beginning to find ways to incorporate it into another and more products. Garbage and recycling bins, water filtration systems, shipping pallets, sheeting and automotive battery casings are just a few of the products that can be made out of recycled polypropylene.
