Whenever the metservice suggests snow is on the horizion, i like to throw my weatherman hat on and give my personal prediction based on rain forecast charts via metvuw - somewhat of a small hobby.
I will post updated predictions each day for those interested (provided I remember!) :)

Weather Forecast - Christchurch City - Monday 17th June 2013
The weather will clear tonight, Tuesday morning will be clear skies, and will remain a nice day with clear skies lasting until dawn on Wednesday morning when we will awaken to drizzle in morning, transitioning to steady rain by afternoon.
Rain will continue through Wed night, turning to sleet sometime before Thursday morning when we get up. Thursday will be an interesting day as the morning's sleet will develop into heavy snow flurries by Thursday lunchtime. Expect to drive home through thick snow on Thursday afternoon - bring the gumboots.
Snow will fall steadily overnight, with heavy volumes on the ground to wake up to Friday morning. Snow will fall until Friday noon, at which point it will settle down into light drizzle/flurries which will last until Saturday morning, clear skies will have developed again by Saturday lunchtime.
