There's this one idea I want to believe. Is that to obtain something, something else must be lost. It doesn't have to be you who is losing that something but something else must be 'traded' for another.
If you are thinking "oh I would rather never getting xxx or I wish xxx never happened, so I or he or she or they would not have lost that precious xxx", you are mistaken. You are not the only one that gained something through that loss. His family might had gotten something out of it. His friends, his partner, some random stranger might had benefited off of his loss. It's never just you.
Same goes to losses. Same goes to getting hurt.
When you lose something, when you get hurt, it's not just you that is losing. People close to you are getting hurt as well, they are 'losing' as well. Someone else must be gaining at the same time. Someone must be getting something in return of the loss.
Same goes to a lot of things.
This idea might be seen as the magnified version of the butterfly effect and yes it, to some degree, contains the correlation equals causation fallacy.
That's why it will remain something I truly want to believe in, wholeheartedly. At least it gives me an excuse, dare I say it, like religion. At least it sounds fair and it sounds right, and it sounds cruel.
That is also why I will never believe it. I can't believe it completely as of now, I will progress to take useful parts of it with me for application and abandon the false in it.
