Alex ran up the stairs towards the schools roof. "Please still have time... please still have time!" As Alex swung the door open, he felt himself gain a bit of confidence. 'This time, I'll win.' On one end of the roof stood a girl, Alex would be lying if he had said she wasn't pretty. She was seemingly staring off into the distance, her black ponytail blowing through the wind as she seemingly swung along to the winds melody.

"Pearl!" Pearl paused, Alex watched as she slowly turned her around, still silent.

"Pearl, right? That's your name? Pearl, the Dream Killer? Pearl, The Shadow Assasin? That's you, right?"

Pearl didn't move, flinch, or even seemingly breath as she stared at him.

"Someone sent you after me, I get that. But, I can't lose here, not after all I've done to get this far, to get closer to him." Alex's eyes glowed as his face became serious. "I won't lose."

Alex clenched his fist as he started to run toward her, Pearl turned her body completely towards him, she hadn't expected less from him than to run towards her with an attack.

She readied her dagger as he drew near, suddenly though, she was caught off guard.

Two arms embraced her, tightly. Pearl's eyes widened in shock.

"Look, I get it." Alex started as he tightened his embrace. "It's hard to live out here, alone. And it's even harder when you don't have your own freedoms." Pearl felt her grip on her dagger loosen as it fell to the ground, his embrace had reminded her of someone.

"But why are you?..-"

"I know what it feels like to be alone." Alex interrupted, "to feel as if nobody else can help you." Alex then let out a soft smile. "But trust me, there's always someone who's able to make you happy, all you have to do is look."

Pearl hadn't even realized what she was doing, but her arms were slowly raising themselves, returning the embrace softly. For a couple of seconds, there was a silence, but then the dream world started to crumble, like falling sand.

Pearl's eyes fluttered opened as she recognized her surroundings, she was in a tall tree, sleeping on some branches. She started to look around, Alex should've been near, right?

She could see his blood trail, but no body. 'Somebody must've taken him...' Pearl looked down at her hands. 'All you have to do is look for someone who makes you happy....' she closed her eyes and rested her head against the tree. She pulled out her cellphone, what Capital City's Government would track her by, and destroyed it.

"Looks like I've gotta find myself a new home." Pearl looked up at the night sky, appreciating the stars. "Yeah, that sounds about right."
