- Today, I am going to inform you about the Roots of Postmodernism. The term postmodern was first used around the 1880s. This notion describes a broadly known movement that developed in the mid of late 20th century particularly across the arts and architecture. It was first used to describe changes in attitudes and beliefs in the critique of religions. Postmodernism is typically defined by an attitude of skepticism, irony or distrust toward grand narratives, ideologies and various tenets(öğreti) of Enlightenment rationality, including notions of human nature, social progress, objective reality and morality, absolute truth, and reason. - Postmodernism includes critical annotations of culture, literature, art, philosophy, history, linguistics, economics, architecture, fiction, feminist theory, and literary criticism.
- The most vital part that concerns us that it is often associated with schools of thought such as deconstruction and post-structuralism.
- In 1949 the term was used to describe a dissatisfaction with modern architecture, and led to the postmodern architecture movement,[9] perhaps also a response to the modernist architectural movement known as the International Style. Postmodernism in architecture is marked by a re-emergence of surface ornament, reference to surrounding buildings in urban architecture, historical reference in decorative forms (eclecticism), and non-orthogonal angles.
