Nagymező Street 31.
Getting through busy Bajcsy-Zsilinsky Street can we get the fastest to Nagymező Street. In the middle of the XIX. century Terézváros was Pest's busiest suburb, and this is were the most people lived. The neighbourhood was full of narrow, crowded, stinky streets, wich were the nest of a an increased number of deseases and viruses. The house in the corner of Zichy and Nagymező utca was being built by Fodor Gyula in 1914. On top of the third floor, to the attick they designed an art studio, probably it was meant to be a photographer's because in the design a dark room was also present.

In the attick were also the house of the caretaker/house janitor and the room of the maid. On the ground floor they constructed various shops. In 1944 they put the yellow star to this building too, wich meant that they put all the jewish people into very crowded and horrible conditions here. ON the ground floor, on the street the ad is still on "Fékisz Mértékszabóság" (Fékisz Tailorshop), tough the shop was closed in 1996. The inside of th shop is not renovated, mostly it reminds of an avarage tenement house, that needs some work. In the main stairway the beautiful former stucco work is still beautifly seen, it runs under the stairs.

Hegedűs Gyula Street 16.
Few streets away we arrive to the white frontaged house, designed by Fodor Gyula. Next to it, the Synagouge of the Hegedűs Gyula Street just celebrated its 100th birthday just last year. The inside of the house is reflecting on the former elegance too: the crafted wrought iron railing in the yard, uniform door colors, marble and reliefs on the corridor. Today on the floors we can found many lage apartments, on the ground floor there are only offices.

Pannónia Street 9.
Our last destination is the 100 year old house built by Löffler Sándor and Löffler Béla. The simple, solid frontage gives the building a civilan atmosphere. The inner yard looks mostly like castle. Back in the days, the beauty of the building could drop her kerchief 'accidentally' from the inner balcony, so that the knights of the house could give it to her back with compliments. This spiral staircase house also not missing the staircase for the maids. On the yars there is a water tap also. Interestingly, this house had its own elevator for the maids too, today it's closed of course. On one of the walls of the yard there is a firesafety call from 1963, wich they states that from the doors and the windows, the vehicles should be kept at least at a meter distance. From this we think that back in the days the cars parked indoors, in the yars.

Tough the houses in the neighbourhood are in a need of some renovations, they are still in a much better shape, then the fortresses of our bottle-weared Csikágó District.
