Alex hugged his knees as he felt a presence nearby. "I'm sorry, ya know?"
There was a silence, but Alex knew someone was listening, and who was listening. "I'm sorry I couldn't do it, I'm sorry to disappoint you."
After a hard sigh, Pearl stepped out of the shadows and looked down at the teen.
"I'm sorry that all I do is disappoint people, I'm sorry I'm never aware of things, I'm sorry I keep taking things for granted, I'm sorry-"
Suddenly, Pearl slapped Alex hard across the face, the slap was echoed throughout the school. "Shut up! Stop acting as if you don't try! Stop it!" Alex's breath wavered as he looked upwards, facing Pearl who was kneeling in front of him.
Alex gave a wavy smile, it was almost too depressing. "And I'm sorry I didn't try harder."
Pearl's eyes widened, it was almost as if Alex had just taken her to a trip down memory lane with only a sentence.
"Sorry I didn't try harder... I guess I won't be able to see you succeed, huh?"
Pearl held her breath as her hair fell in front of her face.
"Shut up already, okay?" She pulled Alex in for a hug and held his head on her shoulder.
