Articles définis
Definite article dalam bahasa perancis memiliki arti ‘the’ dalam bahasa inggris. Bedanya, dalam bahasa perancis, kata sandang ini berubah tergantung kata benda di depannya, yaitu tergantung tunggal atau jamaknya benda serta gender dari benda tersebut, juga huruf depan kata benda itu.
Seperti dalam bahasa Inggris, penggunaan definite article dalam bahasa Perancis ini ialah untuk kata benda spesifik yang diketahui oleh pembicara dan pendengarnya (definite).

Definite : menunjukkan kata benda.
Ada empat jenis kata sandang pasti (Articles définis) dalam bahasa perancis, yaitu :
1. le (masculine tunggal)
2. la (feminine tunggal)
3. l’ (masculine dan feminine yang dimulai huruf vokal atau h muet)
4. les ( masculine dan feminine jamak )
Contoh penggunaan untuk le :
Le livre artinya buku.
berarti (livre) : golongan maskulin
La banque artinya bank
(banque): golongan feminine
h muet adalah h yang tidak di baca atau tidak teraspirasi.
