Vamoner Lakelac is a man ostracized by society. From the tender age of 9, he would suffer from violent seizures that would almost always end with him hurting the other children. Several Clerics of the different Gods tried to oust whatever demons ailed the lad, but to no avail. Indeed, their efforts seemed only to redouble the intensity of his attacks. One night, in the throes of an attack, he greatly wounded his father. Coming to his senses, he saw his father lying in a pool of blood and his mother and sisters cowering in a dark corner. Resolving to never hurt another person, he left home for the dark Zangarmarsh before he was even a man. In the dark, musty marshland, his attacks still came but at least now he would not endanger another person. As he grew older, his attacks began to leave visions in his mind. Dark visions of an impossible beast, writhing tentacles and a shattered face that seemed to shift each time he looked at it. To calm his mind, he would take long walks deeper and deeper into the marshes.
One day, he encountered a Wyrm. A flightless Drake, a black one. Enraptured by the brilliance of the scales, he kept coming back to gaze at the sleeping beast. However, one day, tragedy struck. In the middle of looking at the beast, an attack overtook him. In his mind, he saw the beast coming closer and whispering to him. Telling him that his father had sold his soul to the creature for a promise of wealth and fortune.
Upon awakening, he saw a kindly old man with a large white beard cradling his head as he lay on the ground. His attacks would never leave him stabilized enough to be lying in one place before. Taking stock of his surroundings, he saw the his body had been lashed in place with several vines that seemed to writhe and grow before his eyes. The old man, it turned out, was a Druid of the swamp. He had forsaken society to be closer to nature and in doing so had been blessed by the Father of the Woods with a beast form not granted normally, the form of a Wyrm. He revealed that his name was Erevar Netan and that he wanted to help Vamoner.
Vamoner was reluctant to accept the help of the stranger, mostly because he fearful that he might accidentally hurt him. However, he eventually came around and accepted the help of the old Druid. Weeks turned into months which became years. Erevar tought Vamoner many different meditation techniques and how to calm his mind in the midst of an attack.
Vamoner, now a man, had learned to control his visions now and had accepted the forced pact with the Fiend, for that was the beasts' identity. Hidden away from Erevar, he would make contact with the Fiend himself and try to make sense of the disjointed images that he would receive in return. He took up the title of a Warlock and entered openly into a true pact with The Fiend.
Seasons came and went as Vamoner learned to control both his mind and his Eldritch powers. Years would have kept on passing in the same tired way if not for a new slew of visions. Every 5 nights, Vamoner was assailed by terrible nightmares and visions. Visions of the land being destroyed by fire, acid, ravaged by storms and lightning and the ground opening up like a gaping maw. Each nightmare would end with 10 piercing eyes in the darkness turning to look directly through him. Each time he awoke in a cold sweat from the visions, he would feel an uncanny urge, perhaps a guiding nudge from his patron devil, to head towards the village of Greenest. Bidding farewell to his old friend, Vamoner set off on the long road to Greenest, hoping to return with answers to his cryptic nightmares.
