- Pengertian
Satelit adalah sebuah benda yang mengorbit atau berputar mengelilingi benda lain karena terpengaruh gaya gravitasi benda tersebut. Contoh paling sederhana itu bulan yang mengorbit terhadap bumi.
- Perbedaan Rotasi dan Revolusi
Satelit ini selalu berputar mengikuti rotasi dan revolusi benda yg diputari.
* Rotasi: hanya berputar pada sumbunya.
* Revolusi: berputar mengelilingi planet lain.
- Jenis Satelit
1. Satelit Alami
Benda alam yg mengelilingi benda lain dan bukan buatan manusia. Contohnya : Bulan satelit Bumi, Bumi satelit matahari.
2. Satelit Buatan
Satelit-satelit ini di buat oleh manusia dan mempunyai fungsi-fungsi tertentu. Contohnya: Palapa C2, Telkom-2, Indostar-II, etc.
