Notes - notes.io

So we learned the following today:
when we declare an integer, it has a memory address. We can access it's memory address by saying &variable_name.
This means that whenever we declare an integer, it gets an address in memory and that address points to the beginning bit in memory
Now depending on whether it is an int or char, our pointers can know when to stop reading bits when they dereference (We will get to this later).
So look at the following:
int x = 4;
printf("%p", &x); is going to print out a memory address of where this is located.

BUT from what we just learned, we know that *&x, will dereference our memory location of the variable x and print out the value of x.
Question for prof: Why do we need pointers if we can pass through *&x.
