Q1: How vivid is Tom’s imagination as he explores the glamorous directions his might take? How quickly is he able to change directions and focus on the marble? Why do you think it is so easy to him to shift from anger to curiosity? What does this reveal about his personality?
A1: He has very vivid imagination, he also has short attention. He is very sensitive. Because he is a multi-personalized person, that he’s unstable person.
Q2: What other superstitions does Tom practice in Chapter 8?
A2: Becoming a soldier, a pirate, or an Indian, and played with his friend Joe Harper “Robin Hood”.
Q3: Reread the description of Tom’s awakening that begins, “Now, far away in the woods a bird called…” Analyze the mood of this passage, and discuss what you think twain is saying about nature. Why do you think twain chose to include this section at this point in the novel, when the boys are playing pirates?
A3: The mood that he was cheerful, that the nature is nice, because pirates don’t play indoors.
Q4: Why do you think Tom returns home, yet doesn’t reveal himself to his family? What does this show about his character?
A4: Aunt Polly and Ms. Harper were sitting when Tom saw them discussing how badly they treated Joe and Tom and they said that their funeral on Sunday. Because he wanted to return to his family and he also felt guilt, that his character is unstable.
Q5: Describe Aunt Polly.
A5: She is the aunt of Tom who takes care of him after his mother’s death, she is sometimes harsh to him, but she loves him and caring for him.
Q6: Describe Joe Harper.
A6: Joe Harper is Tom's best friend; their friendship is really quite simple. The boys enjoy doing the same things: playing hooky, pretending to be Robin Hood, and just generally having fun, Joe lives with his mother, father, and sister, and bit shyer than Tom and Huck.
Q7: Describe Huckleberry Finn.
A7: Huck Finn is the son of the drunk of the town; he means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Most of the adults in St. Petersburg think he's a menace to society, the kids, on the other hand, wish to be like him. Huck is happy to accompany Tom on almost any adventure.
