Diagnostic Imaging Applications RADT2276 Capstone Project


-Imagine, a few years from now that you are working as the LEAD tech in an imaging department with 4 diagnostic rooms: 2 flouro rooms, and 2 diagnostic rooms. They currently use the Fugi or Agfa CR system. Your department performs approximately 50 exams in a 24 hour period.
-After working there for a short time the department manager unexpectedly asks you to prepare for an inspection by the state. As you look around for the proper paperwork for the inspectors you realize that you have no paperwork and must start from scratch.
-You have 6 weeks to complete a Policy/Procedure Manual and Form a Quality Assurance Program that will be carried out by the policies in the manual.

These points must be thoroughly explained by the Policy Manual:
1) Personnel Requirements for employment and continued employment
a. Job Descriptions for Radiology personnel
b. Licensure
c. Continuing Ed Requirements
2) Quality Assurance Plan
a. Mission Statement
b. Hierarchy
c. Steps – must cover QA AND QC

3) Equipment Testing- Inclusive for fluoro and diagnostic
a. Who is responsible
b. What tests-minimum of 5 for each type of equipment: diagnostic, fluoro, etc.
c. Acceptance parameters
d. Interval of testing
e. Include a “why statement” for each test… that is the application.
4) ALARA
a. Employees
b. Patients
c. General public
d. Include a “why statement” for each point.


Compose a Policy Procedure Manual for this department which includes:
a. Title page
b. Table of Contents
c. Glossary- 25 terms minimum
d. Numbering system
e. Visual Aide for each section
f. Reference Page
g. Footnotes
h. Bound by a 3 ring binder


*This project should be a minimum of 10 pages in which you thoroughly express your ideas AND support them with accurate knowledge in your “why” statements from information that you have gained from this class or the course of the program.

*You MUST use 3 professional references for this project and APA format for the reference page.

*Your grade on this project will reflect how well you apply your knowledge and explain your reasoning.

*The project is weighted as 20% of your total grade in the course.
