S - Specific
M - Measurable
A - Achievable
R - Realistic
T - Time-bound

I think it helps to achive an objective when you follow the SMART steps, reason being is that SMART gives you guidlines to follow and is a very organised structure. SMART, helps you to pick out the specific points and information you may need to be able to have a clear understanding of your objective. By having the specific peices of information need, the outcome is easily measurable as the task is clear from your specific informaiton recorded. The SMART layout is easy to follow and therefore less complicated, this means that it is achievable. As well as the layout being easy to follow, it also makes sense, it's simple and therefore realistic. Finally, because of all of the above points, you are able to meet your deadlines and complete your objective within the given/set timebound.


Renewals - How my renewals refer to the SMART method:

Specific - Every morning, i get a list of renewals that i have to complete that day and they laid out in date order with the closest date first this is because the ones with the closest dates need to be completed first as they have less time before their policy is due for renewal.

Measurable - As I go through and complete the renewals from my list, I cross them off so i am able to keep track of what i have completed and what i need to do. It is also for when other people, colleagues/managers look at my work, they are then able to measure my progress my looking at how many renewals i have done that day and how many i have left to do.

Achievable - My renewals are always achievable as i have had the neccesary training to be able to do my renewals correctly, although, if ever i am unaware or unsure of something then i can ask my colleagues for help/guidance. -My renewals also get checked everyday so i am being corrected any mistakes and therefore gaining further knowledge on my renewals. This is another example of how it can be achievable as i would not be able to learn from my mistakes if i am not being told and therefore i would not be able to acheive things more independently in the near future. Renewals are always achievable.

Realistic - Everyday the renewal list is generated through the OpenGI system and printed in date order allowing the company to follow regulatory procedures - renewals have to be invited at least 28 days before the renewal date and the lists that are generated daily, are laid out in date order so realistically, it makes more sense as the ones with the closest days need to be done first, it also makes you more organised and makes it easier to complete the list as required to. -This brings me to my final point:

Time-bound - each renewal has a deadline and therefore has to be done within a certain 'time bound'. The above steps makes it clearer, measurable, simple and it makes sense so therefore it is easier to reach the deadlines given.
