When you add more of the same substance the mass increases, the volume increases but the density stays mostly the same. This is because there is more mass so the weight(mass) increases and the volume increases because there is more so it needs to take up more room but finally the density stays the same because there is still there would be the same amount of stuff in an small wood block as in a big one. My first prediction was that everything would increase including the density. The evidence doesn't support my prediction because i thought everything would increase but only mass and volume increased, not the density.

Data shows that when you add more of the same substance, the mass and volume increase, the density stay the same. AN example is with an wooden block, the mass was 45.2g, the volume was 93.78ml and was .482 ml/g. With two wooden blocks, the mass was 130.9g and the volume was 187.5ml and the density is .446 ml/g. With water, the volume was 25 ml, the mass was 24.2g and the density .968 ml/g. For 400ml of water, the mass was 137.8g and the density was .946ml/g, almost the exact same as the 25 ml of water. The class data shows the same idea. The density of 25 ml of water was .99 ml/g. The density for 200 ml of water was also .99 ml/g. The measurements for the clay was 31.0g and the volume was 20ml making the density 1.55ml/g. Also the measurements for a smaller piece of clay were 15g, 10ml and the density was 1.55. The same. Density stays the same because it is a characteristic property, which means that it stays the whatever you do, as long was you are not changing the substance.Even if you were to add more or take some away you would still have the same density.

In conclusion, density will stay the same of an object because it is how much matter can fit in any given amount of volume so it will stay the same.
