Sawyer was born on the 23rd day of the 11th month of the year. It was cold and snowy, with the beginings of Christmas decorations starting to make their appearance as everyone prepared for the transition of holidays from Thanksgiving to Christmas. She wasn't due for another month, but made her way into the world, kicking and screaming, anyway. She was the apple of her parent's eyes from the beginning, something that hasn't ever changed. Growing up, Sawyer wished multiple times for a baby brother or sister, but her parents had trouble concieving after Sawyer was born, and so were never able to have more children.

Sawyer married Nathan Scott when she was 23. A childhood friend, they had known each other since they were school kids. It was more a marriage of convenience than anything, at least between the two of them. However, they were able to fool even their own families. At the time, both her and Nathan were doing their own series of episodes for a home improvement network, and were told that the marriage would boost their ratings. At first, they both said flat out that they wouldn't marry each other, but after giving it some thought, they figured they might as well. Sawyer was hung up on an ex that she wouldn't ever be able to be with and Nathan...well, Nathan had promised Sawyer's parents that he would take care of her, and what better way to do so? And so, Sawyer Rae became Sawyer Rae-Scott and she stayed that way for 4 years. The marriage ended amicably, both willing to go back to just being best friends. It helped that Nathan had met someone that turned his world upside down, and for that, Sawyer was happy.
