Honorable judge, worthy opponents, and diligent timekeeper. My partner and I firmly agree with the resolution that states; The United States should build a wall along its border with Mexico to prevent illegal immigration.

The United States is a very generous country that allows so many immigrants in their land. The United States of America including birthright citizens; have over 85 million legal immigrants living in the US today. The key word is legal.

The Center of Immigration Services states that more than 4.4 million people are on the legal immigrant visa waiting list. The illegal immigrants that right now are pouring into our country from the southern border, are undermining the great immigration system that we have, and then the people who want to enter our country legally cannot.

There are 11.1 million illegal immigrants in the US today with over 52% of them coming from Mexico. Per a former U.S Border Patrol Agent, The U.S. Border Patrol simply cannot handle its mission under existing limits. Its job is to protect the American public and preserve the sanctity of our international borders. That cannot be accomplished while our borders are overrun by aliens from México.

The economic and social consequences of illegal immigration are stunning. Illegal aliens have cost billions of taxpayer-funded dollars for medical services. Immigration is a net drain on the economy; corporate interests reap the benefits of cheap labor, while taxpayers pay the infrastructural cost.

According to the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform, $60 billion dollars are earned by illegal aliens in the U.S. each year. One of Mexico's largest revenue streams consists of money sent home by and illegal aliens working in the U.S. $23 billion dollars are sent back home to Mexico by illegal immigrants. This is a massive transfer of wealth from America to Mexico.

The U.S jobless rate is a problem in this country. There are many people who don’t have jobs because aliens, who aren’t even allowed to be in our country, are taking many jobs. According to trading economics dot com. there are 7.9 million people in America who right now don’t have jobs. Illegal immigrants are taking up an estimated 8 million jobs in our country.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), found that illegal aliens cost U.S. taxpayers more than $100 billion each year. more than half of the country's illegal immigrants work in the "underground economy," meaning that they are paid cash under the table, without paying any kind of taxes. Tax dollars are spent on their education and medical needs while more than half of them don’t contribute and don’t pay taxes.

As the immigrants come into our country they bring with them crime and drugs. The Federal Bureau of Prisons reports that 26.4 percent of inmates in federal prisons are non-U.S. citizens. Non-citizens are 8.6 percent of the nation’s adult population. It is a big problem that the percentage triples when it is about the people in jail.

Mexico is the number one foreign supplier of marijuana to the United States, and marijuana is thought to be the top revenue generator for Mexican drug cartels. Mexican cartels move cocaine through South and Central America and into the United States. An estimated 93 percent of cocaine headed to the US from South America moves through Mexico. This is bad for our country. Illegal drug abuse costs American society $181 billion a year in health care costs, lost workplace productivity, law enforcement, and legal costs.

A major argument against the wall is money. The plan for the wall will cost around 25 billion dollars. That sounds more than it is. The U.S annual budget is 3.25 trillion dollars. The wall cost would only take 13% of the budget. With the national debt at close to 20 trillion dollars an extra 25 billion is very little.

In conclusion, the United States of America needs to build a wall on the border of Mexico. Illegal aliens can’t just come into our country. With the illegal immigrants come, drugs, crime, loss of money, and an overall weaker country. Thank you Honorable judge, worthy opponents, and diligent timekeeper.
