Hapkido adalah seni bela diri Korea, dan menggabungkan teknik dari Karate, Aikido dan Judo. Ini juga menarik lainnya pengaruh dari seni bela diri asli Korea. Nama apa yang dikenal sebagai Hapkido hari ini berubah beberapa kali, dan mahasiswa terkenal seperti Ji Choi Han Jae terus mengembangkan seni dan instrumental dalam membawa Hapkido ke barat, di mana diajarkan untuk FBI dan badan-badan pemerintah AS lainnya.
Selama waktu ini Ji Han Jae bertemu Bruce Lee, yang sangat terkesan dengan teknik-teknik Hapkido. Ji Han Jae melatih Bruce Lee, yang kemudian melanjutkan dan aspek-aspek tertentu dimasukkan ke dalam Hapkido perkembangan muncul sendiri gaya, Jeet Kune Do.
