ÇIKTI Al
My name is Yaman. This name was given by my father when I had
born. This name means that better, actually best, stronger or more clever. I
think it is too exaggerated. He gave me this name because he thinks this
motivates. Besides, I have a complex about being better or best. For example, I
was sick of playing guitar when I was in high school. I had been practicing 8
hours in a day. Additionally, I won all the drawing contest which I joined.
Maybe, my name affects mine under-consequence in order to provide more effort.
I love my name because I have never met another Yaman, and it is an advantage.
I think choosing a name is a stressful thing since it affects child's attitudes
and it may create prejudice about him/her. On the other hand, self name
choosing have to be more painfull for person.
It is obvious that my surname cannot defined as a rare
surname in Turkey, especially Eskisehir. For instance, in my grandfather‘s
contactbook, there are 19 friend called as Ilhan Can too like my grandfather
name and surname. Additionally, when it comes why they decided this surname,
unfortunately, there is no exciting story. They had choosed that surname since my
grandparents cannot find anything and they wanted to choose a common surname such
as Can.
My former family members which are grandparents of my mom had
immigrated from Greece after the establishment of Turkey Republic. This
immigration was mandatory. They had abandoned from all rights and properties
in Greek. According to arrangement, they would have a house and adequate conditions
in Samsun. Nonetheless, they had decided to live in Tekirdağ when they arrived
in despite of poverty. They believed that living in there has more significant
reasons. I think it is easy to recognize because Tekirdag has been known as
sociaculturel values which are similar Balkan life.
On the other hand, I have not got any information about my grandparents of my
dad. He does not likes talking this issue. I only know they immigrated from
Bulgaria and Romania. Before the Bulgaria and Romania, they forefathers had
been living in Anadolu under the domination of Karaman's.
Lessons for women is a text by Pan Zhao, Chinese scholar and follower of Confucius. The text gives guidelines as to how women should behave.
Confucius is a philosopher who led to Eastern Culture and philosophy. His student Pan Zhao has maintained an Eastern culture and he shaped his thoughts with this way. Firstly, mainly two types of cultures have can be found in the World: East and West. Beside the other factors, attitudes and expectations of the woman are a significant diversity. According to Eastern cultures, it is not obvious that equality between man and woman. The woman has recognized as a servant of man. To illustrate, Pan Zhao said that “ Let rise her early to duties” and he added kindly (!) “Let her not dread tasks by day or by night.
Like as every eastern politician or philosopher, Pan Zhao intervened relation between husband and wife. He had mentioned that women have to control by husband due to the strong relationship. He added primitively: women have to serve themselves to their husbands. Pan Zhao’s approach of a woman can easily summarize with that: woman has to obey like a dog.
Additionally, Pan Zhao examined to the woman as if an object. He though woman should have four qualifications: womanly virtue, womanly words (I think there are “OK, what if you want, as you said etc.) womanly bearing and womanly work. This sexist approach shows Eastern philosophers and politicians mind.
Unfortunately, this primitive attitude and approach can be found in a Global World, 21st Century. It is hard to explain that is why still happening but according to the perception of his time, this quote can be regarded as “humanistic” suggestions.
