Avanos Medical and the FDA have issued a Class 1 recall for approximately 629 units of the CORTRAK*2 Enteral Access System, a feeding tube placement device that is connected to numerous fatalities and injuries.
The recall devices were made available beginning on April 1 from 2016 to January 1, 2022. Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Avanos Medical feeding tube The devices are utilized by healthcare professionals to place feeding tubes into the stomachs of patients or intestines.
Cortrak 2 eternal access system Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Avanos Mediacal Cortrak 2 Avanos Medical Avanos Medical feeding tube Nasogastric or Nasoenteric tubes which were placed incorrectly have resulted in more than 60 injuries and 23 deaths reports since 2015.
Avanos Medical feeding tube The recall is utilized to modify the device's label to instruct users to ensure that the tube is properly placed prior to delivering food.
According to FDA, "Adverse events include pneumothorax, respiratory failure, perforation (a perforation or hole that is located in the lung's wall, esophagus, or bowel) or pneumonia, lung infections, and the pleural effusion ("excess fluid that is accumulating between the lungs, and the chest cavity),"
