You have some RAM left, but Minecraft does not use it? In this tutorial, you will discover a simple method to give more RAM to Minecraft.



If you're an avid Minecraft player, you might have noticed that you are using very little RAM. However, if you install mods to enhance the game's features or enhance the gameplay, such as the addition of new objects, mobs, or world generators, it could cause the game to shut down instantly. This is because the game is running on more RAM than you have.



Minecraft is developed in Java, so you must have both the standard 32-bit and 64-bit version installed in Java to increase the RAM available to the game.

How to Allocate More RAM to Minecraft

In this guide I will show you how to increase the RAM utilized by Minecraft step by step in the latest Minecraft launcher version.



If you are using an older Minecraft launcher version or use an alternative launcher to the official, you can follow the same process however you'll have to find the arguments options by yourself.



Let's begin without further delay.





Step 1: Check Available Memory

This should be your first step. However, if you know the amount of memory your computer has, you are able to move on to the next step.



Open the File Explorer, right-click on This Computer and then in the menu click Properties






A new window will appear and you will be required to navigate to the section Systems. You can view the memory available on your computer under the line Installed memory (RAM)



Now, one thing you need to keep in mind is to not use too much memory on Minecraft.






Half of your memory is a good option. In this instance, I will use 2GB of my 4GB Ram.





Step 2: Allocate more memory

On these steps, I will explain how to increase the ram on Minecraft using the official launcher.



1. Start the Minecraft Launcher and login into your account.


2. Now you have to navigate to the

Installations

tab


3. Click here to see the latest release schedule

4. You will need to click on the bottom of the Edit Installation window.

6. There you need to change the argument -Xmx2G according to the amount of memory you want to allocate. You can change the argument -Xmx2G to 8GB if you intend to use it in the following manner the following:"-Xmx8G"


7. Click to open

button to apply the changes, and then you can click the Play button to start Minecraft


8. Once in the game, you must to verify that you have allocated the memory by pressing F3

Minecraft is a great game that comes with several mods that you can install within it, however, if you do that you could face some issues with RAM since by default, the game only allotted 2GB.
