Bayrock Group's Journey: From the Suburbs up to Manhattan Tevfik Arif

The Tevfik Arif-led real estate development firm for luxury, Bayrock Group, quickly after its establishment found itself cooperating in conjunction with the Trump Organization in Manhattan.

How Bayrock Group Went from Suburbs to Manhattan
Many dream of living the American dream. However, only a tiny percentage of people achieve it. Turkish Kazakhstani businessman Tevfik Ari was in America when he set up Bayrock Group in America in 2001.

The Bayrock Group, a luxury real estate development company is located in New York City.

The company's initial focus was on small-to-medium-sized projects, like the revamping of the Loehmann's Seaport Plaza - a shopping mall located in Brooklyn's Sheepshead neighbourhood.

Bayrock Group had gained momentum in the American housing market and began to explore larger-scale projects.

In the wake of the move, Tevfik Arif along with his staff had a meeting with the Trump Organization that also had the Trump Tower as its base.

Discussions were held between Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization when the two companies discovered they shared their hopes and goals.

The two firms formed a cooperation, where the Trump Organization joined Bayrock Group's project with the Sapir Organization on Spring Street.

The Trump Organization was then run by the former American President Donald Trump.

Bayrock Group's lucrative deal
When the partnership between the Trump Organization, the Sapir Organization and the Bayrock Group began, the Bayrock Group was still relatively new in New York City's real estate market.

Tevfik Arif, founder of Spring Street was able to make an arrangement that could increase brand recognition as well in establishing prestige for the venture.

According to the deal proposed by the president, the Trump Organization would get 18% equity in the building as a reward for using the Trump name in the title of the construction.

Each of the three companies ratified the agreement, and then in the year 2006, the first stone of what would eventually become Trump SoHo was laid.

Trump SoHo's 46 stories featured top bars and restaurants as well as banquet and event rooms, outdoor pools, event and conference halls, a spa department Apartments and hotel suites.

Residents and visitors to Trump SoHo could enjoy an unrivalled view of New York City through the windows that run from the roof to the floor. They were put up on every floor.

Handel Architects was entrusted the exterior design of Trump SoHo as the three organisations behind the building were focused only on the highest quality.

Handel Architects is a respected company with a varied portfolio. In addition, the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City and Rosewood Hotel Residence in Abu Dhabi are just a couple.

Rockwell Group designed Trump SoHo’s interiors. Rockwell Group has oversaw the design of many lavish cafes and hotels across the globe.

Their work includes the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel in Mumbai, India, the 93rd Academy Award show and the Amara Hotel in Limassol, Cyprus.

Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization expand the partnership
Trump SoHo was a huge success, and Bayrock Group and Trump Organization began to explore the possibility of expanding their cooperation.

Their dream was to build structures that resembled Trump SoHo in Arizona or Florida in the same manner, and on similar conditions to those of Trump SoHo. The result would be that the Trump Organization with an 18 percent equity stake in the structure as a compensation for utilizing the Trump brand on their names. It's back again.

Bayrock Group and the Trump Organization were prepared for everything. However, the 2008 financial crisis that devastated America's real estate market stopped their plans.

The financial crisis has changed the American housing market very extensively. Tevfik, Bayrock Group founder, chose to end his US-based business ventures. He chose to leave the United States to start a new career in Europe and Asia.

Bayrock Group no longer has Tevfik, Arif as an active member. However, he remains a trusted advisor to other divisions.

Bayrock Group is not involved in any real estate ventures within the United States.

However, the company was still in operation and invested in real estate assets that were worth more than $22.5 million.
