The Professional Gambler
Let me start by explaining who this article is about. The professional gambler doesn't make a lot of announcements or draw attention to himself. He or she is not the one that is making huge bets for high-rollers. The true professional is one who is a serious, reserved and quiet player. Professional gamblers are aware that gambling is an enterprise. It is a profitable business.

This is known as the tourist mentality. You may hear about those who have won millions in Vegas. It's possible. It's possible. But, you will likely hear the tale that goes:
"I was up to three or four hundred, but I lost everything back." You will never ever hear a professional making an assertion like that. If one's goal is to make a profit They will realize that 3 or 4 hundred dollars is a very healthy profit and is likely to be gone.

Professional gamblers are militant. They're not here to race. The professional is playing to be successful. Losing or winning doesn't usually take much time, definitely not all night or day. It is possible that they can get a winning streak and believe me when I say that the professional will recognize it and ride it to the end. The majority of the time however, the professional's play will only last long enough to either make the day's profit or be able to lose the entire amount. If a professional is able to win big the odds are not that the casino would ever see that money again. The casino can't afford to lose the player.

It's not just about "how much did you lose or win today?" It's more like "How do I stand in the month ahead or for in the coming year?"

Professional poker players are an area I would like to mention. They're in an entirely different class! Many poker players don't consider themselves gamblers. These poker players consider poker to be a game that requires skill and they are highly proficient. Professional poker players is not exactly the same as the person I have written above. In the coming months I'll probably write an article about the subject. They're an amazing breed!
